Market Open FTSE100 Wednesday 2 September 2026

The FTSE 100 opened broadly unchanged at 10,789.94 as renewed US-Iran strikes and higher oil prices weighed on risk appetite, while the Euronext 100 was flat and Germany’s DAX fell 0.2 per cent amid rising global bond yields. In the US, the Nasdaq closed lower at 26,099.77 and the S&P 500 declined to 7,631.47. In company news, TT Electronics raised its full-year profit outlook following improved first-half margins, while Wizz Air reported a 25.9 per cent increase in August passenger numbers as it expanded capacity and its Spanish network. Against sterling, the US dollar and Japanese yen strengthened marginally, the Swiss franc was broadly unchanged, and the euro and Australian dollar weakened slightly, while Bitcoin rose. In commodities, copper and gold moved lower, while Brent crude and natural gas advanced.
