► Top 10 Failed Fighter Jets
On January 6th, 2022, it was announced that Norway became the world’s first country to field a fighter fleet comprised entirely of fifth-generation fighters, with American F-35 A jets replacing the last F-16’s in its fleet. The completion of the replacement process, which comes under a month after neighboring Finland placed its own order for F-35s, has drawn attention to the significant discrepancies in costs per fighter paid by the two countries. Finland purchased 64 F-35s to replace its F18 Hornet fighters for an average of 1.3 billion Norwegian kroner, $147 million per aircraft, whereas those acquired by Norway cost 1.74 billion kroner, $197 million, making them 34% more costly per fighter. A more extreme example of protest was Bjornar Moxnes, who sat on the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee and argued: “Norway should never have chosen the F-35” with this being one of many issues he claimed the acquisition had.

Speculations and BS.
It’s as easy as Norway went into contract for purchase with lockheed Martin years before Finland and at the time the program and the aircraft had not reached maturity meaning the costs where a lot higher to produce each fighter. Norway is also part of the inner circle of the joint strike fighter program and part of its development. The Royal Norwegian Air Force version also have a special drag parachute that other f-35 do not. Adding to its cost.
Finland entered its purchase after costs had come considerably down and therefore benefited from the now mature joint strike fighter program and aircraft mass production. You could argue that Norway should have included a section in there contract that obligated Lockheed Martin to give Norway the lowest and newest price at the time of new production runs part of it’s delivery, but that was not done. One really important aspect to consider that is often not included is that by Finland waiting to purchase until now they will not have a ready (IOC) fleet until 2029 at the earliest. While Norway already have a fully operational Air Force with a Fifth generation fighter, due to its early decision back in the start of the previous decade
How these countries continue to spend money on this error-prone money guzzler beats me.
WHAT!! – ??
fake
Very good
F-35 is a junk!
A lot you believe but do not understand here. Finland is not in NATO and therefore has a simpler version of the aircraft – not adapted to NATO’s weapons arsenal. Norway does not buy basic aircraft – the price includes upgrades and spare parts stock for several years. Norway is never pressured by the US or others in elections – we have a government and a governing body that is 100% open and we have many political parties that openly come up with objections. When Norway buys military equipment, the country that receives the contract obliges to buy the same amount of Norway. Therefore, the F35 F35s are delivered with several Norwegian-produced parts as well as weapon systems – which have also been purchased for the US Navy. The world is a little more complicated than you might think
