Building a $1,000 a month dividend portfolio in Singapore can cost you anywhere from $253,000 to $359,000, depending entirely on which strategy you pick. I break down 3 real ways to get there: 100% STI ETF, top 5 blue chip stocks, and top 5 S-REITs, with the actual capital required and the risk tradeoffs for each.

I started my dividend investing journey back in 2014 with a CDP account and $25 commissions per trade, all chasing the same goal: $1,000 a month in passive income. In this video I walk through 3 practical strategies to hit that number in Singapore today, using real dividend yields for STI ETFs (G3B, ES3), the top 5 STI blue chips (DBS, OCBC, UOB, Singtel, SGX), and the top 5 S-REITs (CICT, Keppel DC REIT, CLAR, MLT, FCT). I compare the capital required, the effort involved, and the risks unique to each approach, so you can decide which fits your own risk appetite. I also show how to move old CDP holdings to Moomoo fully online, without the branch visits I had to do a decade ago.

  • I dont quite agree using the ocr index to compute property capital gain. The more relevant data for projection should be like singapore gdp, median household income, unemployment rate etc. To bet that the property prices will not go higher, it is calling a short in our sg govt

  • What about mixing STI ETF,REITS ETFs and SSB (bond ladder) to balance out the risk and still get a decent dividend per month?

  • Isnt it more beneficial to top up the $ to BHS & FRS to earn 4% guaranteed dividend?
Once both r full then go for dividend yield bluechip stock which generate more than 4%.

  • great content! I have a question: how would you recommend allocating funds between the US and Singapore markets? I’ve been quite heavily invested in the US market over the past few years, but I’m wondering if I should start shifting more towards Singapore, given that many US stocks seem quite overpriced at the moment and there’s always the possibility that the AI bubble could burst. Your thoughts on this?

  • Dividends feel passive until you count the 8 years of consistent investing it took to get there. The income is passive. The discipline never was.

  • what will your thoughts on Mutual funds (like how the underlying funds of insurance ILP) which it might go from 5-7% annually ? eg one of the most common Allianz income and growth
