Every National Day, Singapore’s restaurants and fast-food chains release limited-edition dishes inspired by local flavours. This year, I challenged myself to try at least 10 different National Day food items – from McDonald’s x Old Chang Kee’s Curry Potato Chicken Burger and KFC’s Curry x Sambal Zinger to Din Tai Fung’s Chilli Crab Xiao Long Bao and the National Day buffet at Edge, Pan Pacific Singapore.
I also tried Singapore-inspired German food at Brotzeit, including Salted Egg Schnitzel, Rendang Goulash, Laksa Spätzle and Mala Pork Knuckle, followed by MOS Burger’s Chilli Crab Ebi Burger.
Some dishes were amazing, some were unusual, and some worked much better than I expected. Watch until the end to see which ones were actually worth eating and which dish became my overall favourite.

McDonald’s burger was kind of underwhelming
Eating refried frozen prata KFC. I don’t think it’s authentic.
Mala whatever and Mapo Tofu is ABSOLUTELY not a national food.

Actually the NDP special from MOS Burger is Teochew braised duck burger. I think MOS Burger usually launches their NDP menu later than the other fast food outlets. So if you really wanna try the actual NDP menu fr them, u got to go later.

The really special food in SIngapore where you cannot find anywhere on earth is the drinking water. Drink too much and you get Kidney disease. WHy? it is recycled sewerage and human extreta! Enjoy!
