Singapore recently opened its newest university campus – the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) in Punggol Digital District.
As a Japanese person, I was shocked by how futuristic and carefully designed this campus feels. It is connected directly to a shopping mall and has facial-recognition access, robot cafés, palm scanning, production studios, 3D printers, laboratories, supermarkets, sports facilities and study spaces almost everywhere.
Three SIT students showed me around the campus and explained what student life is really like, why they chose SIT and how its hands-on approach differs from more academically focused universities.
I also compare university life in Singapore with my own experience in Japan – from studying and part-time jobs to drinking culture, graduate salaries and how seriously students take their education.

The Punggol Coast Hawker has incredibleee Turkish food called ‘Kebabs Corner’ they bake fresh pita bread & pide, generous lamb and chicken rice plates.
