Norway is delivering ten bridges to Ukraine. The bridges cost NOK 30 million (USD 3 million) and are funded through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ humanitarian budget, according to Norway Posts.
“We know that these bridges will benefit Ukraine while not jeopardizing our own bridge readiness,” says Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygrd. “The fight in Ukraine necessitates European unity. “We want to contribute when requested, using what Norway has experience and ability for,” Nygrd adds.
A total of 32 trailers equipped with shower sets will be delivered to Ukraine. On Tuesday, the first trailer was dispatched from the Swedish Road Administration’s emergency storehouse at Bjrkelangen.
“Russian aggression has deliberately damaged critical infrastructure in Ukraine. Ukraine is fully reliant on the functioning of the road network to transport food, water, medication, and injured Ukrainians to hospitals,” says Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt.
Russia has conducted strikes against Ukraine’s infrastructure throughout time. Several hundred bridges and over 25,000 kilometers of road have been damaged in total.
