Saksa: 1000m of Climbing for This View | Hjørundfjord | Sunnmøre Alps

📱 Xplore Norway App – GPS-triggered audio guide for your Norway road trip:
Saksa (1,073m) is one of the most rewarding hikes in the Sunnmøre Alps, starting from the village of Urke on the Hjørundfjord. 1,026 metres of climbing over 3.6 km one way, with sherpa-built stone stairs on the steepest sections and views across both the Hjørundfjord and Norangsfjorden from the summit.
Hassan, Julia and Auri attempt the hike after a tough day in the mountains. One of them turns back at 800 metres. The other two make it to the top, celebrate, and only find out months later that they stopped at the wrong summit.
This video covers everything you need to know: parking, route options, trail conditions, timing, and what to expect at each stage of the climb.

  • That 1,000 meters of climbing looks brutal but absolutely worth it for those stunning views of Hjørundfjorden! The contrast between the sharp ridges and the deep water is incredible. It’s a great reminder to always check the map at the top so you don’t accidentally stop at the southern peak. Thanks for sharing the detailed tips on the parking, sherpa stairs, and weather safety!
