  • We started with the 2011 blue Leaf back in 2016 and its was hell in the winter months, 6 months after this I got the 2015 model and what an improvement. We drove the 2015 four times to Germany from mid Wales, and we still have this car. 2 years ago we got the 2020 40kWh model much improvement less charging time for our Germany trip, but 250 miles is the limit after which the rapid gate issue gets frustrating. It fits our needs for the time being, but I am looking at the Ioniq 5 as our next car, which should hopefully be much better for long trips. But the Nissan Leaf 24 now approaching 90k miles is the first car that has ever paid for itself in my 45 years of driving cars.

  • 2018 LEAF 40 is about £7k in the UK now. Great for commuting. But not 500km.
If you need to go on a longer trip with the 40kWh, drive slow – 60mph max on the speedo (about 55mph GPS) and you will get there faster overall. Give yourself the best start by charging to 100% slowly on AC overnight and the battery will be cool. Don’t push the battery too hard when DC charging either – stop at 80%.
