Renunciation of Nigerian Citizenship. Requirements are below.

RENUNCIATION OF NIGERIAN CITIZENSHIP
Nigerians wishing to renounce their Nigerian citizenship should complete and present the requirements below:
1). A formal application letter, duly signed by the applicant.
2). Payment of 3000 SEK renunciation fee. (Please include the receipt of payment)

3). A duly completed application form.
4). Original Sworn affidavit for renunciation of citizenship in a Nigerian court of law.
5). Two copies of recent passport photographs.
6). Original Certificate or letter of identification from Local government of origin.
7). Original Birth certificate.
8). Original international passport.
9). Original letter from UDI (To whom It May Concern)
10). A self-addressed envelope (Applicants in Sweden should include postage stamps worth 120SEK and applicants outside Sweden, 10 international postage coupons).

Thanks for the information. I recently received citizenship from my country of residence which doesn’t allow multiple citizenship. They do give you up to 1 year to complete renunciation. I think I have most of the documents and requirements that you mentioned. I was just wondering if the “Original Certificate of letter of identification from Local government of origin” is the same as a Attestation of birth or certificate of Citizenship (from the National Population Commission). I don’t live in Nigeria, is there anyway to get the Local government letter or equivalent from outside Nigeria? The embassy here doesn’t seem to be knowledgeable. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

What can we do if we dont have letter of identification from the local government area? Also can we get the sworn affidavit from the host country?

I intend to renounce soo. But I also have a couple of landed properties in Nigeria. Will there be repercussions?

I intend to start the process soon. But I have an expired passport (Expired July 2021), I don’t have an original birth certificate also. Please what do you think?
