Just to add my thoughts… When a chain is broken/delayed, it takes weeks/months to restore…the ripple effect is only felt later…when chaos errupts…

That is why you shouldn’t just rely on one energy resource. If we had a proper functional Eskom and Transnet. You can use electro-diesel trains to do bulk transport like cargo from the harbour, coal to the power stations and delivering ore to places like Mittal.
You should see the amount of trucks at the Cape Town harbour when they need to load. The place was never developed for so many trucks. No wonder it is one the worst in the world. I am sure all these inefficiencies drives up the cost of transport.
