Cape Town Raids: City and SAPS Divided Over R1.6 Billion Corruption Claims

A high-stakes arrest with apparent links to a suspected gang boss. An unlawful police raid. And the City of Cape Town effectively blowing the whistle on itself in a corruption investigation that police say involves R1.6 billion, but which City officials say is a “grossly inflated” amount. These events are shaking the city’s political and policing landscape. Daily Maverick’s Caryn Dolley explains.

  • The DA’s skeletons in the closet need to be found. They are good at covering up and providing narrative but soon they will be caught out. Anc and DA both are highly corrupt

  • It’s quite intriguing that the City of Cape Town is effectively exposing itself! It seems as if the DA is considered an invaluable asset and incapable of making any mistakes. But their federal philosophy suggests that their sole concern is their own interests.

  • The ANC and other parties will do everything possible to get rid of the DA in the Western Cape but we will stand strong as the only serious political party in the country

  • The ANC disgusts me. They are prepared to bring down the entire country to maintain their criminal activities.
