A 68-year-old Singaporean man lost more than S$10,000 in an online love scam after being deceived by a woman he met on Facebook.
The victim, Ng, said the woman, who called herself “Li Xin,” claimed she was unable to enter Singapore due to a past offence and needed money for travel permits.
Ng later sent multiple payments to supposed officials to help her, but she never appeared.
When her stories became increasingly suspicious, Ng realised he had been scammed and filed a police report.
