Why should our exports become more expensive? The exporting country does not pay the tariff. The importing company pays the tariff and passes it on to the American consumer. The only impact is that the US consumer pays for the tariff. I repeat the question. Why are our exports suddenly more expensive?

People need to understand Trump strategy from “Art of the Deal”. He is setting up his administration for maximum advantage in negotiations, and those that see this will benefit. There is already a basis for walking back tariffs in exchange for ‘reciprocity’ and his calculations are being questioned due to errors in the method for calculation. Pay attention instead of bunkering down into a bear market. Instead of crying foul, rather take advantage of the fact we are a major trading block in the AU, rise to the occasion.
